Temu and Shein are Building Inroads to Gen Z Wallets
Although Amazon is the top destination for online shopping across all age groups, Gen Z has shown a greater willingness to shop around, with Temu and Shein seeing a particularly strong showing among these young adults.

Among consumers planning to shop for holiday gifts online this year, 36% of Gen Z said they plan to use Shein, while 30% plan to shop Temu. For older generations, just 11% plan to use Shein for holiday gifts, while 22% plan to shop on Temu.

To date, Gen Z has had the most experience shopping on Temu with 52% saying they had purchased apparel from the online marketplace at some point. The share of apparel shoppers who have bought from Temu drops with each older generation, however, down to just 21% among baby boomers.

In general, Gen Z has shown an openness to trying new products and brands, while preferences among older Americans are more calcified. Among beauty shoppers, 65% of Gen Z said they either tend to look for new brands to try or to try different products from the same brand. Among baby boomers, that rate is just 45%.
